Robert Andrews, M.A., LMFT, the founder and director of The Institute of Sports Performance, has 30 years of experience in private practice as a mental training consultant and licensed therapist.
Throughout his career, Robert has worked with Olympians and Olympic hopefuls in the last four Summer Olympic Games, contributing to the success of numerous athletes who have clinched Olympic Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and World Championships. His expertise spans nine countries and 13 sports, including men’s and women’s gymnastics, trampoline, swimming, diving, basketball, fencing, judo, track & field (sprints, pole vault, and middle distance), and rhythmic gymnastics.
In addition to his Olympic endeavors, Robert has extensively collaborated with NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes. He focuses on aiding these professionals to seamlessly transition into their leagues, manage stressors related to contract years, recover from significant injuries, and excel in their sports and cultural environments. He has also significantly supported active and retired Special Forces members and Gold Star families. Furthermore, his work extends to assisting high school and college athletes across various sports.
Renowned for his work with injured athletes, Robert’s protocols are pivotal in helping them overcome the mental and emotional challenges of serious sports-related injuries. These protocols are designed to enable athletes to return to their sports with confidence and without the fear of re-injury.
Galen Andrews is a former collegiate Division 1 baseball player and is deeply committed to assisting adolescents and young adults in managing the stressors inherent in these life stages. His experience as a student-athlete has equipped him with a nuanced understanding of the complexities involved in juggling a beloved sport with academic responsibilities, travel, and other interests.
Galen is particularly cognizant of the positive influence sports can have on an individual’s personal growth, self-esteem, and character development. He leverages this understanding to help the athletes he mentors learn from and grow from their unique challenges.
Galen is also a licensed personal trainer, placing significant emphasis on the roles of mindset, stress management, emotional intelligence, and mental toughness in achieving athletic excellence. He excels at inspiring teens and young adults to embrace authenticity, build strong character, and fully realize their talents.
