Robert Andrews, M.A., LMFT, the founder and director of The Institute of Sports Performance, has 30 years of experience in private practice as a mental training consultant and licensed therapist.
Throughout his career, Robert has worked with Olympians and Olympic hopefuls in the last four Summer Olympic Games, contributing to the success of numerous athletes who have clinched Olympic Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and World Championships. His expertise spans nine countries and 13 sports, including men’s and women’s gymnastics, trampoline, swimming, diving, basketball, fencing, judo, track & field (sprints, pole vault, and middle distance), and rhythmic gymnastics.
In addition to his Olympic endeavors, Robert has extensively collaborated with NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes. He focuses on aiding these professionals to seamlessly transition into their leagues, manage stressors related to contract years, recover from significant injuries, and excel in their sports and cultural environments. He has also significantly supported active and retired Special Forces members and Gold Star families. Furthermore, his work extends to assisting high school and college athletes across various sports.
Renowned for his work with injured athletes, Robert’s protocols are pivotal in helping them overcome the mental and emotional challenges of serious sports-related injuries. These protocols are designed to enable athletes to return to their sports with confidence and without the fear of re-injury.
Robert’s personal life is deeply rooted in sports as well. He is married to Gisele, a standout high school volleyball player. Their son, Galen, pursued college baseball, and their daughter, Abby, engaged in high school and club volleyball.

Michael has accumulated 20 years of experience as a counselor, coach, consultant, teacher, and clinical director in the fields of mental health and athletics. He played football at Azusa Pacific University before signing with the San Gabriel Valley Rhinos, a minor league football team in Los Angeles, California. His passion for marathons began at Azusa Pacific, which led him to coach marathon runners there. He has also coached football in Billings, Montana, at Billings West HS, and in Houston at Second Baptist HS.
A licensed professional counselor in both Texas and Montana, Michael resides in the Big Sky State with his family. He conducts in-office and remote sessions with athletes across the United States and in South Korea. Michael excels at helping athletes surmount mental barriers. He has successfully assisted gymnasts, cheerleaders, golfers, baseball, and softball players, among others, in overcoming challenges like frustration, anxiety, and embarrassment that hinder their performance in specific skills or motions within their sports. Michael is particularly adept in his work with younger athletes, showcasing a unique talent in this area.

Andrea Estrada, a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Houston, has over 10 years of experience in the sports and mental health fields. Her expertise lies in guiding athletes through the process of overcoming unhealthy thinking and behaviors, enabling them to take action towards their goals, enhance their performance, and lead more balanced and fulfilled lives.
Her own competitive background in sports began with softball, where she played from little league through high school, including for select teams around the Houston area. This experience has given her a deep understanding of the challenges faced at competitive levels. Additionally, Andrea has a background in dance; she was a collegiate dancer for the Corpus Christi Islanders and later a professional dancer for the Houston Dynamo soccer team.
After her dancing career, Andrea channeled her passion for fitness and weight training into bodybuilding, where she achieved notable success. She holds titles such as Bikini Pro, and has been crowned both Model Texas and Model Asia champion.

Galen Andrews is a former collegiate Division 1 baseball player and is deeply committed to assisting adolescents and young adults in managing the stressors inherent in these life stages. His experience as a student-athlete has equipped him with a nuanced understanding of the complexities involved in juggling a beloved sport with academic responsibilities, travel, and other interests.
Galen is particularly cognizant of the positive influence sports can have on an individual’s personal growth, self-esteem, and character development. He leverages this understanding to help the athletes he mentors learn from and grow from their unique challenges.
Galen is also a licensed personal trainer, placing significant emphasis on the roles of mindset, stress management, emotional intelligence, and mental toughness in achieving athletic excellence. He excels at inspiring teens and young adults to embrace authenticity, build strong character, and fully realize their talents.
